Paulene's last day of term was 21st July 2010.

On Thursday 22nd July we set off to Malvern, arrived at about 13:00hrs had some lunch with Kurt & Rosemary. Then went with Rosemary & Boys to a Museum in Worcester the commandery which was nice and we had a play on the lawn in between looking round the rooms.

We went to chirkenhill farm at about 18:00hrs to check in. Shortly after Kurt rang us up and asked us what sort of pizza we liked, any will be fine and we set off back to have a nice evening with Kurt & Rosemary. Friday morning we had breakfast and had a nice talk with some guests over breakfast. set off for Oak Cottage in cynwyd in Wales, Post code xxx xxx in the satnav. and 120 miles to drive.

We arrived 13:30hrs and Brian was outside to welcome us. I was asked, had I see corwen's new statue of owain glyndwr, No! as it was not in the road! A walk at bala lake ( llyn tegid in Welsh) was his planned introduction to Wales, It was very nice great views from the hill side. And of course there was bala lake railway (Rheilffordd Llyn Tegid) coming back we ate out at Llandrillo, dudley arms Here it was very busy but the service was smart and the food was very well presented, in the salad the cucumber was made up into a nice arrangement.

Saturday the plan was a trip up Snowdon, Brian was to walk and Marie, Paulene & I were to go up in the train. Overcast and a little wet? Dropped Brian off at
the youth hostel on the A4086 then into llanberis. Marie bought the tickets and we drove down to the lake (Llyn Padarn) where we had coffee. Back at the railway we had time to see the film show. before getting in compartment "C" in front of the engine Snowdon.

Brian was there to meet us at the top station, wet right through, In good cheer but we decided that it would be better if he had a ride down with us on the train.

Sunday 25th July a breakfast before setting out to Ave's again the satnav. directed me on the trip. After the A5 the A483 was soon dual carriageway and then motorway until Carlisle. We arrived at 14:00hrs to be meet by Averill and her Daughter samantha's family Husband Alistair and the girls Heather & Jessica. Shortly after her son  steve with wife joe & luke their two year old son arrived together with their Labrador pup Zak.  After work Glyn was soon there and it was a packed house.

Monday Glynn took us down to the Lake district had a look round a large garden centre then we had dinner at The Ship Inn in Bowness on Windermere, a little walk with Ave in the wheel chair watching the people going by at the piers. Going back Glyn gave us a nice tour up a steep hill the kirkstone pass on the A592 and back along Ullswater, it's a pity I didn't take the camera that day.

Tuesday 27th July after midday we left to go back to Oak Cottage in Cynwyd. Arrived in time for shopping in llangollen Brian pointed out the Station House as we past Berwyn. We parked near the horseshoes falls then a walk past them near the Station house to the chainbridge hotel where we had a drink.

Wednesday 28th July Train ride on the cambrian  main line steam train from Machynlleth to Porthmadog so up early and out by 08:00hrs. The train was to start at 10:30hrs. It was a great day out at Portmadog we went to the ffestiniog railway  station cafe which I will recommend, we all had a good roast beef dinner.

Here the Train is going tender first over the wooden  Barmouth Bridge. The views along this line are great. Marie enjoyed the trip as she had plenty of company to talk to,  many thanks Brian.

We arrived back at Machynlleth near 17:00hrs. and after coffee it was suggested that a walk was needed as we had been sitting down for most of the day. I was put off by the name precipice walk   nr.dolgellau I went to the seat over looking Mawddach estuary, but chickened out of going the longway back, having looked at google maps it was not much longer but the last bit of the path had put me off as it was very rugged. That evening we ate out at the grouse inn.

Off in the morning to Malvern to see Kurt, Rosemary & Boys. I again used the satnav. which did well. Kurt was home for lunch and we had some too, after which we drove him back to work at qinetiQ for his last afternoon. Kurt has a new job at Cambridge. We then went to play in the Park with the Boys, Rosemary and her brother Mathew. We left early afternoon, back for home, after Bristol Paulene drove.
